Hey everybody! It's nice to see everyone blogging about their upcoming summer project! I see many various ideas, and everybody seems set on fulfilling his or her summer goal. It looks as though everybody chose their summer project according to personality or extracurricular activities. In some cases though, I see that people chose their idea because it sounded the most appealing, exciting, or interesting! I chose my specific summer assignment for a little bit of a different reason than those I listed. For my summer project, i chose to learn the guitar, not only because it's an AWESOME instrument, but because it'll benfit and stick with me for my whole life! I can picture it now: Sittin' round the campfire, playin' my guitar and signing those calssic campfire songs. The thought makes me smile. Let's hope that by the end of the summer that my dream will come true!
You know, the great thing about the guitar is that it requires no other instrument for it to be a fantastic song. Keith Urban could be sitting on a stool, playing the guitar and singing, and it would sound amazing! Acoustic or electric, background or lead instrument; the guitar sounds fabulous no matter the occasion. I'm so pumped to learn it! I played the flute up until sophomore year, so it shouldn't be extremely difficult to read the music; I have a general idea as to how it's structured. I'm ready to get started: I've got the guitar (a prettyyyy essential item), the book to learn it (learning from a book may prove to be somewhat tricky- but I'm up for the challenge!), and youtube! Let's face it- you can learn anything from youtube! They have great tutorials, for well, basically anything!
My generalized plan is to go through the guitar book, browse through some guitar videos, and try my hand at it. I'm going to take this STEP by STEP, veryyy slowly, learning one chord at a time!
That sounds exiting! To be honest I am not a huge guitar fan, I think it is over played, but it makes music and you can take it anywhere, so you should have plenty of times to practice! You may want to consider private lessons or even asking a friend who plays guitar to help you out, there are some parts of music that can't be learned from a book, and you should be confident that you are doing everything right! Good Luck!
ReplyDeleteGood luck!!!! I wish I had any musical capability!! :)
ReplyDeleteOh, they have YouTube guitar lessons? Cool, I'll have to look into that! Learning guitar is part of my project too. Perhaps we can help give tips to one another. :)
