Well guys, I need two do another 600 words essay to catch up. But this should be equivalent to weeks 6 and 7.
OK, so two weeks ago, i decided i needed to attack the act with a new theme. By that i mean that i was getting a little sick of the Book, The movie was good but i could not stand to watch it again. So i sat down and thought about it. Then it hit me. I have not even started to tap into the resources i have. THE ONLINE ACT PREP MATERIAL. So this week, i took a different section of the act practice questions on different days. One at a time. This was an excellent source. It told me approximately how many of each type of questions there will be in each section on the ACT. For example it showed me that there will only be about four trigonametry questions on the whole ACT, but there will be 23 geometry questions. This helped me figure out how hard i needed to study, or practice, each section. I really do feel that i am far better prepared for this test now.
Now earlier this summer i was at a family birthday party and i started to have a conversation with an older gentleman. He said my generation was completely brainless, and the computer has played a major role in the degeneration of youth. Now of course being me, i could not let this guy go without making a few, well thought out, passive aggressive statements (those of which went right over this guy's head). I simply told him, that yes technology is not the best tool for everyone. HOWEVER, technology can be used to help in the advancement of one's education. I explained to him that it is far easier for me to type a draft than to hand write one. Now, this guy was pretty stubborn, and i knew i was not going to change his mind, But i am sure if he saw how the "Evil Internet", helped me prepare for one of the biggest tests of my life. I am pretty sure this man would see it my way :D.
This week however, was a little slower for my project. However i feel i did get a lot accomplished. I decided to go back into the ACT Princeton review book and i finished up through chapter 15, Which was Trigonometry questions once again. It did make me realize that the information was still in the book, but it would just take me a little bit longer to get to. So as for the week before, do not get me wrong. Technology, in my opinion was one of the greatest things to happen to mankind. It doesn't make good old fashion books obsolete. Even if that previous statement contradicts what i had said earlier, i still believe i was right:D. haha. Ok, so getting farther into this book made me realize that over 60%(my rough estimate) of the ACT deals with charts and graphs. So i decided that i would have to brush up on those skills just so i knew i would have them covered when it came to actually taking the test. Now, what is something that helps you learns something?--doing it yourself. I spent this week making numerous charts and graphs using excell, and powerpoint, Why waste my time you ask? Well the charts and graphs i made were actually using sports statistics so it was actually something i was interested in. Which brings me to my final point of the week. This project, since he let us choose our own, only goes by as quick as you make it. Choose to do something that interests you, or that will help yourself. and it makes it a lot easier to swallow. At least it did for me.
kudos to you for doing academic work when you didn't have to.
